‘Ship it’ is a common online poker term used among players, usually meant to signify that the player has just won the pot and is now ready to have the casino online money awarded or ’shipped’ to him. Similar to Joe Hachem’s now famous World Series of Poker catch phrase ‘Pass the sugar,’ saying ’ship it’ has become common enough among poker players to become annoying, and some might say, in bad taste.
Such kinds of online poker lingo, when used in detriment to another player, seems not only irritating, but in some lights, unsportsmanlike. There’s nothing worse than a player who gets so worked up by the game that they can’t even remember how to handle themselves in the moment. Courtesy and cordiality for the players sharing your table is as much a part of the game as sportsmanship is in any other game.
Personally, anyone who says ’ship it’ around me, I pretty quickly put them on a ‘this guy is lame’ list. It’s like wearing a studded belt with your khakis, or wearing your ball cap to the side with your polo shirt’s collar flipped up. We can’t all have good taste, but it seems pretty clear that saying ’ship it’ is reserved for an elite group of poker dorks.
