Alicia Keys and longtime boss Jeff Robinson have parted ways ending over a decade-long business partnership that started at the beginning of the singer’s career. Keys and Robinson asserted the news Fri. night ( July sixteen ) in a joint statement. Robinson and Keys may continue to cooperate and produce future albums thru MBK / J Records while Keys will now oversee her career, according to a statement. Keys ‘ company, AK globally will take the reins on opportunities from touring and licensing to video, TV, and new business development.
“This call will allow Alicia more control of every aspect of her career from singing and songwriting, to leading many business ventures and social causes,” read a statement, adding the call was “jointly agreed on and amicable.” MBK Entertainment Inc, which encompasses a film, publishing and independent selling division, has been the management firm for Keys since she used to be a teen. MBK is alleged to now be shifting its focus toward developing new talent including Elle Varner and Gabi Wilson. MBK also latterly formed a new label, Glory to Glory Records.

The news that BBC 6 Music is set to be closed by the BBC has lead to protests against the station from worried listeners. BBC 6 Music is one of the few places in the UK that listeners can hear new music from unsigned bands. It’s difficult for bands to get onto mainstream radio stations and they find their options limited. BBC 6 Music meant that listeners could hear free music from new bands without having to resort to illegal downloads
Listeners have rallied in protest against the BBC’s plans to axe six Music, with officially announced figures showing a fifty percent rise in its audience since The Times reported the closure suggestions a quarter back. The amount of folk who tune into the digital broadcasting station every week has burst through the one million barrier, up from 695,000 in February, while the amount of hours that listeners tune in every week has doubled.
Mark Thompson, the Director-General, suggested closing six Music and the Asian Network, another digital station, as a part of a wideranging revamp of the BBC’s services.
He announced at the time that six Music has low reach and awareness and delivers comparatively few unique listeners to BBC radio. But music biz executives say the alternative music station is a crucial platform for breaking new bands, and they and the fans accept that the new figures will give a massive boost to their opposition to the offers, which are liable to a public consultation.

For the 2nd year in a row MLE Pyrotechnics is holding the event in the premise of the Duke of Rutland’s family home this will be judged by the crowds.
Vanessa one of the promoters, said: “It’s a lovely venue where we truly revel putting on an event. The fireworks are all set off from behind the lake and are reflected in the water.”

The firms are Celebration Fireworks from Evesham, Pyromania Displays, Knaphill in Surrey and Spyrotechnics from Chesterfield with each setting on a 10 to 15 minute display to music. But the extravaganza doesn’t end there.

It all started with Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” in 1979, perhaps the biggest fluke in popular music history. To follow up her hit “Never Can Say Goodbye”, Gloria’s label issued a song called “Substitute”. The track bombed. Everyone hated it, including the radio DJs and the public. Then DJs started to play the B-Side track “I Will Survive” and the rest is history.
In retrospect, it is no surprise that “I Will Survive” should have become as popular and enduring as it did. The theme of the song is universal. Who hasn’t loved and lost? But the song went further and became an Anthem for reclaiming one’s power. One could say Gloria is the Godmother of Girl Power. With “I Will Survive”, Dance Music’s fascination with a Diva declaring her independence was born! The song and theme have proven so popular that even Diana Ross, Diva Supreme herself, did her own version of “I Will Survive” in the late nineties.
Later in 1979, Donna Summer jumped on the bandwagon when she released her duet with Barbra Streisand titled “Enough is Enough (No More Tears)”. That song has followed “I Will Survive” into Music History as a Dance Floor Classic inspiring several remakes, including one by KD Lang and Andy Bell (Erasure) and at least two by Donna Herself: one with Tina Arena for her Live and More Encore CD and another with British boy band Westlife for DiscoMania.
