Handling my monthly budget has always been a headache, juggling between regular monthly bills and unpredicted expenses. My paycheck was already spent as soon as I got it. I get lots of bills every month and put them off to the last minute, then did them all in a hurry. As a result I ended up taking money from the next pay just to make it through. It’s not that I didn’t make enough money, it’s that I didn’t know how to manage my budget. Worse yet, any emergency left me even deeper in debt.

I am positive most of us have been in this situation. We try to be cautious with our money, but long before the month is over, the money is spent. Paying Off bills is a juggling act that most of us don’t have the time or energy to handle. There’s always one bill that was forgotten or delayed, one more expense we weren’t consenting for. With school supplies and fees for the kids, groceries, new tyres for the car, and the raising cost of petrol, just making it from paycheck to paycheck is tough enough; saving money is out of the question. Meanwhile, debt is slowly jamming up. How can I get mybudget under control?

I was fortunate to have found a service which will help me budget my money more wisely and take away the stress of paying monthly bills, allowing me to focus on the things that really matter to my family. While managing your budget can be stressful, not managing your monthly budget can can put you in to further in debt if you are not mindful. The gains that come from managing your budget the right way not only saves you money but help ease some of your tension over debt. Always keep in mind that a budget is primarily a program for your monthly spending. A budget, like any programme, needs some level of management to achieve a successful outcome. The way I oversee mybudget, for instance, is by focusing on maintaining information coordinated and controlling my expenditure.

My first focus is on organizing the information in my budget. For example, I keep track of running expenses like utilities, motorcar and mortgage payments, insurance, and the like. I can very easily lose track of my spending without coordinating my budget. By being informed of what expenditures repeat every month, I have an imminent hold on the minimum amount of money I have to put away each month before I spend on other things I can monitor a little more such as entertainment, clothing, and holidays.

To make a financial progression, I make sure that I supervise my expenditure tightly in my budget. A good measure of progression is putting money into a savings instrument or paying down debt. However, if I over spend, the contrary is true because instead of saving money I will use debt to help me cover the monthly expenditure in my budget. Clearly, giving in to the tensions of budgeting can have expensive consequences for my finances, particularly if I am not able to pay down my debt.

There are two gains for controlling and coordinating my budget: First, I save money by fending off redundant expenditure. Second, my finances are headed at reaching financial goals. Essentially, by not buying things I do not need, I am actually freeing up money that I can either use for something else or save. The extra money can also be useful in paying off debt or keeping it for a vacation. In addition to having extra money, it will also allow me to make longer term financial goals like saving and investing for retirement or paying off my mortgage or student loans. With mybudget being coordinated and moderated, not only does my financial position become more healthy but successfully overseeing my budget reduces the stress that often comes with being in debt.

A Personal Budget: a Healthy Plan for Financial Freedom

If you are reading this, you are probably searching for a way to get control of your finances. Preparing and committing to a monthly budget has always been one of the best methods to do this. Having a sound budget is fundamental for managing money, one that has allowed me to live well even on limited funds. Organising my monthly budget is one of the most crucial things I do every month, and it has allowed me to systematically meet all expenditures, grow my savings, and control debt.

I usually organise my budget for the coming month close to the end of the month. This will prepare me with my expenditures in the coming month. It’s not a good idea to produce a budget after getting paid because, too often, that flush feeling of getting a paycheck leads to unessential and spontaneous spending before the paycheck ever reaches the bank.

Managing my personal budget involves listing all the things that must be paid that month like mortgage/rent, utility bills, and other essentials like insurance, auto loan repayment, transportation costs, and phone. The general idea is to allocate a budget for the affairs that I must pay to keep a adequate roof over my head and continue earning money. I like to pad these necessities to create “money back” after paying the bills and, if costs increase unexpectedly, I’m always covered.

Next, my budget is subjected to a list of discretionary things I need to cover but could live without if absolutely needed. An example are monthly savings deposits, credit card repayments and donations. Don’t get me wrong, some of these things are also essential, but in case of emergency they can be excepted. By paying credit card companies the maximum instead of the minimum, I keep my credit score high and my debt low.

My budget will not include the cost of living such as food and entertainment. Ultimately, these items get covered by what’s left in the budget. Some months involve lots of beans and rice, slow-cooker meals, free or cheap entertainment, and only one inexpensive piece of clothing . This strategy of overseeing my monthly budget has worked out very well over the long term as long as I observe it conscientiously.

Make a Name for Yourself

Wouldn’t it be great to attend one of your class reunions and have people come up to you and say, “Hey, dude, I read about you all the time!” Sure it would. One thing people notice as a reunion approaches is who is getting some attention in the news media or on the Internet. Can you imagine going to school with someone like Julia Roberts or Tom Cruise? If you haven’t maintained contact with them over the years, how do you acknowledge them at the reunion? “Hey, Tom. I hear you’ve done some film work. How is that going?” That won’t work.

You don’t have to be famous like Tom Cruise or Julia Roberts but if you want to make sure people learn about what you’ve been doing before you run into them at the cash bar, you might want to think about filling out a few social media profiles. That way they can find what you’ve been up to. If you’re stuck for ideas then try picking some names at random and see what people are doing to make a name for themselves on the Internet. Take this guy, Dennis Tamburo. Besides his classmates profile he has a profile on LinkedIn and his own Website.

But he also contributes to the occasional cause, as you’ll find Dennis Tamburo listed here and there. These are the kinds of things guys like Dennis Tamburo should list on their Facebook site.

But surely you can do better than that, right? So let’s say you have some hobbies. Why not start a blog about one of those hobbies. Other people who share your passion may link to you and you’ll enjoy a little bit of celebrity. You can also think about publishing a business biography about yourself on a few Websites. Buisiness bios are only about 1-2 paragraphs long. They tell people where you went to school, what your specialty is, what companies you have worked for, and what awards or recognition you have earned.

In addition to blogging and being autobiographical you should adopt a cause. Help promote cancer research, or maybe protect street animals in your community. You don’t have to be Cesar Millan but you might just find that people speak highly of your achievements at your reunion. Even Tom Cruise has to respect people who follow their passion. If there is one thing Tom is all about, it seems to be passion for what one believes in.

Exponential Expansion of Possibilities

We’re really trying to look at this and say, “Okay, now I have this sense of value that is a product or is part-and-parcelmutually arising, let’s saywith this super-structure, with this organizing structure that organizes my perception. And then I’ve projected this out in my world, selecting very isolated circumstances and relating them together with my sense of value, and I’m clinging to those circumstances, continuing in a consistent manner so that I feel certain, so I feel at ease.” Now this is the whole idea of what’s happening to most of us. This is the First Golden Truth of The Buddha: suffering, dukkha. We’re creating situations in our lives to reflect the same thing happening over and over and over again. And we think that’s what we want.

We think that’s what we want because we don’t have another option that we can grow into, because for the most part we don’t have a personal relationship with Deity Yoga. And basically, you can’t just walk up [claps hands] and suddenly have it. Yes, you can feel the resonance, and that’s really cool. But then you have to warm up to it. You have to start where you’re at and begin to play with the circle, begin to play with the Deity in the circle, begin to play with the manifestation of activity that emerges as radiant waves or as flames in the circle. And this whole time, you’re working to begin to understand the qualities that are reflected in this image that you actually are wanting to bring into being in your life.

I mentioned being meticulous and even used the word ‘abiding’ around the practice, because it’s the continuity of the practice and the abiding nature and function of it that allows it to transform one’s life. Now what I realized was that doing my Shiva Yoga practice has not been that exhausting.

Surviving the Workday in Your Organization

Most people suffer from stress at some time during the day. When you recognise your own peak and low energy levels, you can work with your body clock to maintain high productivity and alertness. It makes sense to tackle the hardest tasks at high-energy times, and when you’re feeling low, do simpler tasks like sorting the mail or filing. If you force yourself to do difficult tasks when your energy is low, you’ll take much longer to finish them.

So start with planning time for YOU!

You may think you’re the lean-mean money-making machine in your organisation, however all machines need some maintenance/time out.

Take short breaks every hour throughout the day of no more than 10 minutes to keep your mind alert and productivity high.

At lunchtime - go for a walk - your organisation will survive without you for an hour! And besides, you need the exercise.

Listen to your Mood - if you’re carrying out your work with a pleasant attitude without forcing yourself too much - you’re within your limits.

Do You Know Which Door To Open?

Do you remember that old television program that gave the contestant the opportunity to choose one of three doors and receive whatever was behind the door?

I was reminded of this television program the other day when I was pondering a decision I was struggling to make. My usual process for decision-making is to make a list of pros and cons, revisiting and revising the list every couple of days. When I feel that everything is listed in the right column, I weigh the pros and cons and make my decision.

During this last exercise I had pros and cons on the paper but internally I was reading the headings as success and failure. Now, you know I know better! It didn’t matter what I knew when making the list, I still kept reading success and failure. So, in frustration I put the list away and decided to let things sit for a few days and go back to it. This was really good advice, if I do say so myself.

It was in this waiting period that I thought of that old television program and the three doors. Now, it wouldn’t be prudent to just choose a door and go with whatever was behind it, but the thought of the three doors made me realize I had three options. If I chose Door #1, I would choose option #1. Choosing Door #2 would mean I opted for the second option and if I chose Door #3 I would be choosing not to choose.

When it comes to decision-making we sometimes forget that not choosing is making a choice. We lose sight of the fact that not choosing can be healthy and rewarding. Now, of course, I don’t mean you can just go through life letting life happen all the time, with no decision-making effort on your part. But, sometimes, that is just what you should do. When the decision-making is really tough, when you are thinking about it all the time and feel like you are getting nowhere, why not choose Door #3?

The next time I made my list I listed headings of Door #1, Door #2 and Door #3. Under Door #1 I listed all of the really good things about that option and then I did the same thing for Door #2. I did not list any cons! I simply created a vision of the best of both options. Under Door #3 I wrote “serendipity” (the gift of discovering things accidentally).

By not forcing myself to choose I opened Door # 3 and allowed myself the freedom of discovery. By not labeling pros and cons the success/failure identifiers went away. I now am able to discover whether Door #1 or Door #2 holds the prize I want to attain by envisioning, and living in the vision, of the best of both options.

Interesting Word History: English author Horace Walpole coined the word serendipity. In a letter of January 28, 1754, Walpole says that “this discovery, indeed, is almost of that kind which I call Serendipity, a very expressive word.” Walpole formed the word on an old name for Sri Lanka, Serendip. He explained that this name was part of the title of “a silly fairy tale, called The Three Princes of Serendip: as their highnesses traveled, they were always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of….”

Inspire Initiative - For To Be Is Up to Me

What makes someone take the risk and become an entrepreneur? Why would any individual leave a comfortable life and risk his or her savings on a dream? What makes an individual willing to do the impossible? Why would someone risk national failure by performing in front of millions of people hoping for that exclusive recording contract?

After coaching numerous entrepreneurs, executives and small business owners, I have discovered one characteristic that they have in common — initiative . They consistently use initiative to overcome the obstacles of life. And what is even more important, these individuals have infused initiative into their own interpersonal skill sets. They truly understand that “Whatever is to be, is up to me.”

Initiative begins in our early childhood. As children, we are curious about our environment and take every opportunity to explore and feel the world around us. Tapping into that childhood curiosity generates the foundation for initiative action capacity.

Unfortunately, initiative due to constraints of society as well as every day conditioning, can be permanently damaged. We quickly learn not to “push the envelope” and not to “draw outside the lines.” Taking initiative presents issues for others because they may not know how to respond or the outcomes may not be their “right answer.” Even as adults, initiative continues to present challenges because we want to “fit in” and don’t want to be recognized as the “geek” or “nut” who is always doing something different.

Overcoming inertia or the obstacles of life requires the ability to take the initiative, to take a chance, to risk failure. Learning how to rebound from unsuccessful initiatives is just as important as learning how to take the initiative. Even though initiative is innate within us, we must continually feed the flame and keep the candle burning brightly so that we can unleash the incredible potential within us.

Developing initiative begins by first looking into your own beliefs and identifying where you strengths lie. If you believe that you lack initiative, then you must begin to inspire yourself to believe differently! Initiative comes from within your own beliefs of who you are and what you can do to change your life or the lives of others.

Today’s world demands individuals who can take the initiative by working in an environment of freedom and can recognize and encourage the initiative within others. Just imagine the possibilities for your own business or your own life, if you, your employees or your family embraced each day with the thought of “How can I make this the best day ever?”

Now is the time to take the initiative and as Captain Picard so famously said: “Make it So!”
